6 Gleneagles

Gleneagles is much more than just the King's Course. There are two other Championship standard courses at Gleneagles on the 830 acre Perthshire estate. They are called the Monarch's and the Queen's.

The King's is a majestic course worthy of its name. It is a heathland layout in the colourful, rolling hills of Perthshire. There are fantastic views to be enjoyed all over the course and this should be part of your staple diet of golf when you visit Scotland.

This is a spectacular setting for a golf course. The first is a great opening hole. The green lies 362 yards away from you on the first tee. It is a plateau green set in to the hillside - do not be short with your approach shot to the green!

The Monarch's is a great challenge. It is designed by Jack Nicklaus who, while recognised as the foremost golfer of this age, is also widely regarded as a fine golf course architect. This is the longest inland course in Scotland and measures 7081 yards from the medal tees. This course is graded to suit all handicaps and has the added advantage of having electric carts available to all who wish to play it.

It is a great compliment to the King's course and if one has time or is a resident of the hotel, I would suggest that it is a great excuse to spend another day at the superb Gleneagles resort.
